Child Privacy Notice
This notice explains how we handle information belonging to students under 18, and the extra protections in place for younger students.
Our approach
Because most Ozap Space students are minors, we design our data practices around the same principles behind laws like the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA): guardian consent before collecting information from a child, data minimization, and guardian control over that information going forward.
Guardian consent comes first
We do not create a student profile, run an assessment, or begin tutoring for anyone under 18 until a parent or legal guardian has provided verifiable consent through their Ozap Space account. Students aged 13–17 are also asked to provide age-appropriate assent before participating. Students under 13 are subject to additional protections consistent with COPPA before any account activity occurs.
What we collect from students
We collect only what is needed to run the FR-SCC assessment, deliver tutoring sessions, and produce a learning plan: basic identifying information provided by the guardian, session activity, and progress notes. We do not use information collected from a student for advertising, and we do not sell student data to third parties.
Guardian rights and control
A guardian may, at any time from their dashboard or by contacting us: review the information held about their student, request corrections, withdraw consent (which pauses further assessment or tutoring activity), or request deletion of their student's data, subject to reasonable recordkeeping requirements.
School and district use
When a school or district invites a family to participate, consent and assent decisions still belong to the guardian, never the institution. See our For Schools page for how organization accounts work.
